Measuring whether the new website improved patient action
A healthcare website should do more than look professional. It should help prospective patients understand the clinic, find the right information and take the next step.
To assess Align Health Co's performance after launch, we compared the first six weeks of the new website with the same length of time immediately before launch.
The reporting covered online bookings, direct contact, visitor behaviour, organic traffic and Google Ads performance. Comparing equal periods gives a clearer view than relying on a few unusually strong or weak days.
What changed
Align Health Co replaced its previous website with a new site designed around the clinic's patient journey and business goals.
The result did not depend on a large increase in overall traffic. In fact, visits were 2% lower during the new-site period. Despite that, the website generated substantially more bookings and direct enquiries.
That distinction matters. More traffic can help, but it is not the only measure of successful allied health website design. A stronger commercial outcome is turning a greater proportion of existing visitors into patients.
Results after the new website went live
| Metric | Change |
|---|---|
| Completed online bookings | +20% |
| Website visits | -2% |
| Booking rate | +23% relative |
| Phone taps | +29% |
| Bookings and direct contacts | +20% |
| Organic visits | +14% |
| Pages per visit | +21% |
| Average time on site | +14% |
The headline result was a 20% increase in completed online bookings. Because visits fell slightly, the website's booking rate improved by 23% relative to the previous site.
Patient engagement strengthened too. Visitors viewed 21% more pages per visit and spent 14% longer on the site, while organic visits increased by 14%.
Phone taps rose by 29%, while combined online bookings and direct contacts increased by 20%.
Better Google Ads efficiency at similar spend
| Google Ads metric | Change |
|---|---|
| Ad spend | Approximately unchanged |
| Conversions | +13% |
| Cost per conversion | -12% |
With almost identical advertising spend, conversions increased by 13% and cost per conversion fell by 12%. Align Health Co gained more value from roughly the same media budget during the new-site period.
Momentum also continued beyond the initial comparison, with average daily bookings 26% higher in the latest two-week view than under the previous website.
Why these results matter for allied health clinics
Clinic websites sit at the point where marketing becomes patient action. Search visibility and advertising can bring people to the site, but the website still needs to help them decide whether to book or make contact.
Align Health Co's results show the practical value of improving that part of the journey:
- More bookings without more total website traffic
- More direct patient contact
- Stronger visitor engagement
- More Google Ads conversions at almost identical spend
- A lower cost for each advertising conversion
Website performance should be measured against outcomes that matter to the practice, not simply sessions, rankings or visual design.
A note on the data
Bookings are counted once, when the booking confirmation page loads. Intermediate booking-funnel steps and cancellations are excluded.
A brief launch-day tracking gap means the reported improvement may be slightly understated.
As with any before-and-after comparison, these figures show performance since launch rather than proving that every change was caused by the website alone. The combination of higher bookings, a stronger booking rate, increased engagement and improved advertising efficiency nevertheless provides a consistent post-launch result.
